Instructor/EKU employee taking academic classes -- Which Blackboard account should I use?
EKU employees actually have 3 accounts in Blackboard.
1. Your username based on the pattern lastnamefirstinitial (like dickensc) is used for your Bb "instructor" enrollments. This account is automatically enrolled in every class you teach. The password matches what you use for EKU "facultystaff" email. This account is associated with the address based on the pattern firstname.lastname@example.org.
2. Your username based on the pattern 0lastnamefirstinitial (like 0dickensc) is your "pretend-student" account. It is automatically enrolled in every class you teach (with the student role), giving you a way to see everything in your courses from the student's point of view. The password is set to the last four digits of your Social Security number. It is also associated with your "facultystaff" email address.
3. Your username based on the pattern firstname_lastname[digits] (like charles_dickens13) is your "registered student" account. It is automatically enrolled in every class where you are registered as a student. The password matches what you use for EKU STUDENT email. This account is associated with your EKU STUDENT email address, like email@example.com. Note that email sent through Bb sites where you are a registered student goes to your "mymail" address, not your ordinary employee mailbox.
Our automatic enrollment process (operating through Banner/EKU Direct) depends on having distinct accounts for your "employee" and "student" relationships at EKU. The university's registration system cannot use your "employee" account for classes where you are a registered student. If you are taking classes at EKU, you must use your registered student account for Blackboard; please do not ask instructors to enroll you with either of your other usernames.
