Check Firefox version and verify plugins are up to date

A)  Open Firefox and check to see you have a recent version.

  1. At the time of this writing, the latest version is 33.
  2. It is not absolutely essential to have the latest version unless something you are trying to do requires it. It is a good idea to maintain currency within 1-3 versions
  3. On most computers, Firefox is automatically configured to update itself. To manually upgrade to the latest version in Firefox:
  4. At the top of the Firefox window click the Firefox button, go over to the Help menu and select About Firefox.
  5. The About Firefox window will open and Firefox will begin checking for updates. If updates are available, they will begin downloading automatically. If Firefox is already up to date, just close the About Firefox window.
  6.    When the updates are downloaded and ready to be installed, click Restart to Update. Firefox will be restarted and the updates will be installed.

B) Check to see the status of your plugins

  1. Go to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  2. On the plugin status  table you will see columns titled Status and Action
  3. To Update individual plugins, click Update Now under Action
  4. Restart Firefox, if necessary
